One thing I don’t have many of is trucks, but without them it’s going to prove hard to move my British infantry very far very quickly!
While there are half a dozen Airfix Bedford QLT and QLD trucks in my stash, I wanted to quickly build out enough trucks to move a pair of Rapid Fire battalions or Battlegroup platoons for a game in mid March. Without a chunk of time to build kits, and having often been tempted with the resin trucks from Anyscale Models, I took the plunge.
About the Anyscale Models Bedford OYD truck
Anyscale Models offer a range of vehicles and bits you can use to add character to your boards, mostly in 1/72, 1/56 and HO scale. I’d picked up a barge which I converted to an ‘inspired by’ Landing Barge Flak, along with a few other bits. However before the trucks I hadn’t tried of their vehicles. You can find the Anyscale Models website here.
At £6.50 a pop these are great value. The model comes in 5 pieces which were a breeze to put together in only a few minutes with super glue and took very little cleaning up.

Build and finish
Once built I primed them with my usual Halfords Grey rattle can primer.

I wanted to go for two slightly different finishes so I can identify the trucks at a glance, so painted two with my usual SCC15 recipe as shared here, and two with a base of SCC2 brown. All the trucks then had ‘Mickey Mouse’ pattern camouflage painted on.
Decals are a mix of Plastic Soldier Company Wessex division decals, recognition stars from the spares box, and census numbers from a mix of IBG and Airfix sets.

Once sealed and protected with a couple coats of matt varnish they are ready for the table.

So there we have some trucks to help move some British infantry about. They made a difference in the first game in which I deployed them last month, and they’ll be back in action next week in the scrap for Hill 112.
These trucks aren’t as detailed as the Airfix QLT or QLD, or perhaps 3D printed options, but they are good robust wargaming models. I enjoyed putting the trucks together and painting them, I might have to pick up some of the OXDs for some logistical/resupply assets too.
I’m not linked in any way to Anyscale Models.

Thanks it’s been a while since I’d painted some soft skins.

Thanks John, the texture is good on these, easy to paint and highlight a little.
