First Napoleonic figure painted in about 20 years!
I’ve painted this British figure to represent a Hanoverian Landwehr regiment. It’s the first of several test figures, and has been painted using only Vallejo Xpress (apart from primer, white drybrush, and metal). He’s then been finished off with a sparing Nuln Oil wash.
In reality there is scant evidence that Hanoverians wore these caps in the field, but it’ll be an easy way for me to distinguish the Landwehr battalions.

Next up I’ll paint one using standard acrylics to decide which looks better and is – importantly – going to allow me to paint a few hundred figures relatively quickly.
Once I’ve finished the next figure it’ll be full steam ahead – I’ve got the first Napoleonic game booked for early September!

A good start, Dave! 🙂 I’m also thinking about changing my painting methods to speed things up, even if it means losing a bit of detail! I’m crap with washes and not sure I want to try speedpaints of any variety, so will have to think on it!

Yes I can understand your challenge! I’m quite happy with how the speed painting is going. Definitely lost some detail but I think they’ll look fine once a few battalions are on the table – and at arms length, I’m going to be adding a wash over the contrast paint this evening on some Napoleonic French infantry, let’s see how it goes!

Well that looks pretty good for a quick start. By the time there are hundreds of them, they’ll look great.
