FALKLANDS WAR, Part 3

Fresh back from Colours (pics to follow) and I’m feeling quite reinvigorated!

While my Napoleonics last seen here are progressing well, I’ve also made some progress over the last couple of months with my Falklands War project, last mentioned here.

While it’s going to be primarily an infantry campaign, both sides will have arty, air support, and a small number of vehicles in ‘Falklands 45’.

BRITISH VEHICLES

The first of my vehicles are almost ready, I’ll weather these when the rest of the vehicles are done. Feels like the project has properly gotten off the ground now, though I’m not especially excited about painting a load of DPM! 😄

20mm Resin 3D prints of Scorpion, Scimitar, Land Rover SWB, BV202

I had an old Corgi Chinook in a box gathering dust, so have made a good start on a conversion (well to be more accurate, a paint job) to represent Chinook Bravo November.

ARGENTINIAN FORCES

I couldn’t resist making a start on the Argentinian forces either, and have painted this Panhard AML90, the first Argentinian vehicle ready for action.

TROOPS

Finally, I’ve painted a test figure in DPM and the final wash is drying as I type. Once happy with the DPM I’ll paint up a couple of sections, and then a platoon or so of Argentinians , so I can play test the rules.

It’s quite exciting to see this little project coming along!

Next post will be a quick run through of my DPM mix, and then some pics from Colours.

In the meantime, while the few British vehicles deployed to the South Atlantic in 1982 had very few markings, if you have some recommendations of basic Cold War British vehicle details I’d love to hear!

Until then, keep on wargaming!

    Those vehicles look great 👍
    I particularly like the Scimitar.
So the chinook, is that an old toy? Looks great repainted.

Thanks – the Scimitar and Bv202 are my favourites of these! Yes the chinook is an old Corgi Diecast thing I’ve had for probably close to 20 years gathering dust. Just highlights, decals and details to go.

All very nice I think, Dave! 🙂 A very long time ago I got to fire the 76mm gun on a Scorpion. I can remember the vehicle commander taking me through all the drill and saying “When you press the firing button, keep your head pressed forward against the pad above the gun sight”. The reason for doing this soon became obvious, as the Scorpion rocks back when the gun is fired!
